St Alban’s Catholic Primary School Forming confident children, grounded in humility, bound by respect.

Science

At St Albans Catholic Primary School, we believe that science inspires curiosity, wonder and creativity Through exploration, investigation and practical learning, our pupils develop the knowledge, skills and confidence to ask questions, think critically and discover how the world around them works.

We deliver our science curriculum through Switched on Science (2nd Edition), a comprehensive and engaging programme that supports children in developing secure scientific knowledge alongside essential working scientifically skills. The curriculum provides exciting opportunities for investigation, enquiry and problem-solving, helping children to make meaningful connections between science and everyday life. In addition, there are numerous opportunities for children to engage with cross-curricular learning, which provides opportunities for children to apply different skills.

Our science curriculum encourages pupils to be inquisitive, resilient and reflective learners. By building scientific understanding and fostering a love of discovery, we equip children to become responsible citizens who appreciate the importance of science in our rapidly changing world and their role in caring for God's creation.
